From Hospitality to Retail

Overview.

Lian Huat has been successfully producing and distributing fresh Asian Noodles and Pastries for the hospitality sector for more than 20 years. Storelink and Lian Huat came together in 2019 to launch a Retail Ready pack range into the chilled and convenience category within Foodstuffs.

Approach.

With Local Ranging status only, we used the Storelink360 market planning process to develop strong instore activity, target selected stores and build distribution store by store, product by product. Our ‘Ready-Aim-Fire-Reload’ distribution approach built solid distribution momentum. During COVID we leveraged consumer demand for ‘fake-aways’ improving rates of sale and opening further distribution opportunities as the brand proved itself. Consumer demand has since continued with Storelink capitalising on success by driving gains in ranging, instore visibility and exceptional rates of sale.

Results.

The partnership has yielded significant positive results:

  • Storelink’s fastest growing Sales partner

  • Incredible year on year, double-digit growth +48% MAT vs prior year

  • Core ranging status secured in New World North Island. Expansion into the South Island.

  • Exceptional store cluster ranging outcomes in Pak N Save

Conclusion:

These results clearly demonstrate Storelink's focus on delivering impact and helping ambitious brands to grow. Excitingly, there is still more work to do.

Over this year, hospitality and Asian Supermarket channels have taken a substantial hit (during COVID). Without the growth in Grocery (and Storelink) our business would be in a very different state.
